Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

We have a packed newsletter for you this month! We’re talking all things London Book Fair, awards and what the LitFest team are reading! If none of these things tickle your fancy, there is a cute picture of a book-loving puppy waiting for you at the bottom…

Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

At the beginning of April, three members of the LitFest team, Aedan, Mary Ann and Yvette travelled to a cold and damp England for London Book Fair to explore what the world of books and publishing has in store for us this year. After three busy days of meeting with 31 different publishers, the team has come back with a list of enthralling potential authors for the 2019 Festival. The general themes at the London Book Fair seemed to be around women empowerment, science and bees!

Our team has also had the pleasure of meeting globally renowned authors such as Clare Mackintosh, Jasper Fforde, David Baldacci, Liz Fenwick, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Candy Gourlay, amongst others. All of us at the LitFest office are currently reading books brought back from London, and with the promise of a few more from the lovely publishers, we will soon be finalising our authors list for 2019.

Emirates Airline Festival of LiteratureLithium by Tamim Hnaidi

“A purely humane book written based on true stories about people’s lives whom suffer from Bipolar mood disorder. The book highlights their struggle with the illness and how our community deals negatively with them without fully understanding the real reasons behind their moods changing sharply. Lithium stimulates you to research about psychological illnesses that have always aroused our curiosity. It allows you to learn about others who suffer in silence, their disease, its effects and symptoms and ways of treating it.”
